CONGRATULATIONS!

You've decided that you would like to own a Goldleaf Mastiff Puppy.  You probably have a lot of questions before you purchase your puppy, so we will try out best to answer them.  Listed below are some of the most frequently asked questions that are asked of us.  If you find that you need further information, please e-mail us with your specific questions and concerns and we will be happy to contact you.

What type of environment will I need to provide?

Mastiffs need people. They should never be chained to a post or kept confined to a small area for an extended period of time.  Socializing your puppy is extremely important so you must be prepared to devote a lot of time to your new puppy and continue with this commitment for its entire life.  Goldleaf Mastiffs believes that a Mastiff should be treated as an important member of the family.  They should have a large fenced area so they can get plenty of exercise (a nice bed to sleep on inside the house with the family isn't a bad idea either).

What do I feed my Mastiff and how much will he eat?

Adult Mastiff's eat approximately 4 to 5 cups of dog food per day.  You will need to feed your
puppy a large breed puppy food for the first year so that his growth stays under control. This
is very important for the bone development of your puppy.  Puppies that grow too fast can
development many problems early on and later in life.  Goldleaf Mastiffs will be happy to
suggest types of foods for you to use.

My decision has been made - I WANT A MASTIFF

We never take deposits for puppies until we know that  the little bundles will be arriving, so please check our website often.  If we are not planning puppies in the near future, we will sometimes forward your request on to other responsible breeders that may be able to help you. Goldleaf Mastiffs reserves the right to refuse the sale of a puppy at any time.

How do I decide which puppy from the litter is best for my home?

Goldleaf Mastiffs always does its best to match a puppy with the right family.  After a few
e-mails and telephone conversations, the breeder will get a feel for the type of home you will provide.  He will then be able to suggest an appropriate puppy for your family.  We can alsokeep you updated with digital photos of your new puppy so you can see their development andcreate the bond that is so very important for your family and puppy.

What types of temperaments do Mastiffs have?

It is the top priority of Goldleaf Mastiffs to produce dogs with excellent temperaments. Although all of the dogs are good natured, there are still many different personalities. Some may be shy, some submissive, and some with a much higher energy level.  A loving home to your puppy is very important in the success of having a well-rounded dog.

How do I know what to look for in a puppy?

All dogs have a "breed standard" that is listed with the Americal Kennel Club.  The best way to find what you're looking for is to visit their site at AKC.org. You will also find a lot of other
useful information on this page.

I still have questions.  How can I contact you?
